In 1970, cousins Norman and Wayne Hurd purchased 2400 acres of raw ranch land for $2 million, with plans of developing it into a first class resort, a dream that paid off handsomely. Now home to Horseshoe Bay Resort, which includes a world-class hotel, marina, private club with three award-winning Robert Trent Jones Sr. Golf Courses as well as a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. Tennis anyone? The tennis facilities include hard-court, synthetic grass and clay courts. The Bayside Spa is a full-service spa, offering all the amenities you would expect.
The City of Horseshoe Bay incorporated in September of 2005. The full-time population according to the 2014 census was approximately 3500 people.
